About the artist

Bruno Donzelli was born in Naples on April 12, 1941. Very young he participated in various prizes including, in 1960, the San Fedele Prize in Milan and the Termoli Prize, before being present, in 1962, at the Prize announced by the Ministry of Education at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome. 1962 is also the year of the artist's official debut on the national scene, held at the Fiorino gallery in Florence. In 1963 a second exhibition of works by Donzelli alone was held in Genoa at the Centro Arte Gallery. The pictorial production of Bruno Donzelli is divided into pictorial cycles, among which, remember, "Ormare", "Siparietti impertinenti", "Mirror in the heart of Art", "New squares of Italy", "Morandina", " Sironiana ". Initially inspired by the language of Pop and Cobra, Donzelli, already at the end of the sixties, turns to a “fantastic” painting of an expressionistic matrix. In his notes "Mnemonic Orme" Donzelli weaves a close dialogue with the historical avant-gardes: in his works, "the footsteps" of Picasso, Mirò, Boccioni, Warhol, Burri, Fontana and Kandinsky.
