About the artwork
"I have always been interested in deformation, the alteration of images, their perception. Investigating, I realized that plasticine was a very interesting material applied on a flat support. I started painting photographs. The first one I adapted was the Death of a militiaman, by Robert Capa. From there, I began to experiment with paintings from the past " Rafael Jiménez

About the artist
Rafael Jiménez Reyes (Córdoba, 1989). Graduated in Fine Arts in the specialty of engraving and design from the University of Seville in 2012. He began his career in the world of graffiti and urban art by creating murals and participating in numerous events throughout the country, exploring different expressive languages around painting and urban space. Graffiti takes him to New York to meet some of the first urban artists and later to a stay with the archaeological team Cuevas de Nerja in 2009. Both experiences serve as a turning point for him to dedicate himself exclusively to painting and plastic work to through actions, videos and projects, taking in time, its passage and traces, history and memory as axes of work. Since 2012 he has been one of the coordinators of Z, Montalbán de Córdoba Contemporary Art Days, a space for artistic reflection and interaction in a rural environment where he would curate different exhibition projects and interventions.
