About the artist
JO Young ‐Jae (1967 ~ South Korea) In 1991 he graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the PUSAN National University, In 2013 He studies painting at the University of HONGIK 2018 Awarded 18th DONGSEO Fine Art Award, DONGSEO Art Gallery 2019 Exclusive Artist of the Geumjeong Art & Culture Foundation (Busan, Korea) 2021 Public Art Project "Gamdongjin Forest" (Busan, Korea) Since 1994 solo shows 25 times in Korea, China and Italy Since 2008 he has participated in Art Fair in Korea, China, Hongkong, Belgium and Italy The dreamlike and surreal world of Mr. Jo is represented by magical animals and a fantastic nature through which his poetic and spiritual vision of the world is captured. The depiction of nature recalls the current of the Fauves, due to the use of primary colors in an anti-naturalistic way, with never violent combinations, however, in total harmony with each other and with the cosmos. A universe where animals emerge from a flat but not dull background, where energy and light are perceived instantly. Gold highlights its preciousness together with that of nature on which they rest floating, in a void full of energy and peace. The sparrow, the symbol of freedom, life force and emancipation from constraints is associated with Venus and the night. Mr. Jo, represents him, as well as the deer, in a darkness where the moonlight is perceived, which is also interior light. That of the artist who emerges and becomes a vision by breaking through like a wave that comes from the depths of the soul.
