Fabrizio Pozzoli’s sculptures have their focus on the human figure and how it comes into connection with numerous materials and with just as many meaningful symbolic elements. He represents us as knots of metal, who take our shape from threads of a creative emotion, who try to untangle ourselves each day from the labyrinth of life, but from this labyrinth and from within these knots we find the essentially indispensable poetry and impulses. Man is a spiritual individual, in a state of constant flux, who tends to withdraw into his own environment, his own home, his “psychic skin” (which is certainty and security), but which in reality risks becoming the stronghold where we can lock ourselves away, distancing ourselves from reality and interaction with those around us. The home is in fact one of the elements that Pozzoli’s sculptures most often find themselves faced with and which becomes, in his subconscious, the container that envelops us, that keeps ourselves safe from harm, that stops us from losing ourselves in the world beyond but limits us too. The wire, in its purity and authenticity, becomes a human structure. It changes and in some cases, just like man himself, with the passing of time and due to the environment in which it lives, it transforms and ages, oxidizes and rusts. According to the German philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, man should in fact understand the importance of finding the correct balance and harmony between preserving and changing - a sort of mutation with which he can reach an improvement in being.

Fabrizio Pozzoli was born in Milan in 1973, where he now lives and works. The artist attended various study courses: after scientific studies, he entered in the field of scenography and participated in various internships in England and the USA. After carrying out research in the fields of graphics and writing, he trained at the “Scuola del Fumetto” in Milano, where he acquired specific skills in the representation of human anatomy. Since the late 1990s, Pozzoli has been making sculptures in iron wire, generally protected by a layer of silicone, but sometimes left intentionally to rust. The iron wire is often accompanied by copper wire, aimed at reinforcing the dramatic imprint or creating suggestive visual effects. In 2005 he began to make giant sculptures, even focusing only on faces and their characteristics. In 2008, on the occasion of the exhibition at the Montrasio gallery in Milan, the artist exhibited together with his works some photos taken by the famous photographer Gianni Berengo Gardin, which portray him while he works. Pozzoli spends three months in New York at the HSF artist residency, where he creates a solo exhibition. For Palazzo Querini Stampalia in Venice, the artist was asked to dedicate four sculptures to the famous Milo Manara. In 2010 his work becomes the subject of the famous Austrian photographer Andreas H. Bitesnich. In 2011 the artist began a series of artworks based on the combination of wire figures and new materials, giving life to a reflection on the individual and his interaction with the social context. The iron-plated panels on which he draws shadows playing on the chromatic effects of the oxidation of the metal are from the same period. Pozzoli has exhibited his work in Europe, America and Asia.
