Umberto Lilloni (1898-1980) è stato un pittore italiano, esponente di spicco della corrente del Chiarismo lombardo, un movimento artistico nato negli anni '30 che privilegiava una pittura luminosa, dai colori chiari e dalle pennellate leggere. Nato a Milano, studiò all'Accademia di Brera, dove entrò in contatto con altri artisti che avrebbero dato vita al Chiarismo, come Francesco De Rocchi e Angelo Del Bon. Le sue opere si caratterizzano per atmosfere serene e paesaggi delicati, spesso ispirati alla campagna lombarda e ai laghi del nord Italia. Durante la sua carriera espose in importanti rassegne artistiche italiane e internazionali, partecipando più volte alla Biennale di Venezia e alla Quadriennale di Roma. Nel dopoguerra, il suo stile si evolse verso una maggiore sintesi formale, mantenendo però la caratteristica luminosità. Morì nel 1980, lasciando un'importante eredità nel panorama dell'arte italiana del XX secolo.

Umberto Lilloni (1898–1980) was an Italian painter and a leading figure of the Lombard Chiarismo movement, which emerged in the 1930s and was characterized by a luminous palette, soft tones, and delicate brushstrokes. Born in Milan, he studied at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, where he became associated with other artists who would later shape the Chiarismo movement, such as Francesco De Rocchi and Angelo Del Bon. His works are distinguished by serene atmospheres and delicate landscapes, often inspired by the Lombard countryside and the lakes of northern Italy. Throughout his career, Lilloni exhibited at major Italian and international art events, participating multiple times in the Venice Biennale and the Rome Quadriennale. In the post-war period, his style evolved towards greater formal synthesis while retaining its characteristic luminosity. He passed away in 1980, leaving a significant legacy in 20th-century Italian art.
