("Even the smallest thing is infinitely large")
This is one of my new artworks as part of the project, which is dedicated to archiving the insect species. This painting is done in mixed media, the main object of the painting is a beetle, painted in oil, the background has a relief structure, made of ecological materials and covered in black pigment, and depicted embedded in 'now-cooled lava rocks'. Man's relationship with the Scarab dates back to the earliest days of history, and it is certainly the most widely observed, considered and depicted insect thousands of years ago. In the Egypt of the Pharaohs, the Scarab was considered sacred, symbolising the sun and creation. It evoked, with life reborn from non-living matter, the myth of eternal return. It was considered so important that it was placed in the most revered site: the Pharaoh's heart.
