The Collector Labyrinths Series In this work, executed in shades of pink, ochre and violet, the figure of a labyrinth-fish emerges, constructed from sinuous and broken lines that create a dynamic and unstable network. These visual paths, which expand and fragment, evoke the pathways of memory, erratic thought, and the processes of accumulation and search. The fish’s open mouth, in a gesture of constant absorption, introduces the idea of voracity: an incessant impulse to capture, retain and possess objects, memories and experiences. The figure seems to devour the space around it, becoming a metaphor for the contemporary desire for appropriation and emotional consumption. The fish’s eye, rendered as a collectable pin badge, incorporates an everyday and autobiographical element that blurs the line between found object and pictorial representation. This detail functions as a symbolic core of the work: the collector’s gaze, imbued with nostalgia, playfulness and the desire to preserve fragments of reality. Within the Labyrinths series, the piece offers a reflection on identity constructed from remnants, traces and small personal treasures. The sinuous and broken lines reinforce the sense of displacement and uncertainty, transforming the fish’s body into a labyrinthine territory where memory, desire and voracity coexist permanently.
