*This painting is only a part of the complete work* (ENG)The creation is closely tied to the artist’s exploration of his own identity, arising from a deep-seated yearning to rediscover himself in terms of both his past and present. He dusts off an ox skull remembered from his childhood, an object originally gathered from nature and then painted. Feeling the need to cast the skull’s significance in a different light, he positions it on the terrace of his childhood home and photographs it. Next, he does an oil painting of the photo, altering its appearance before covering it with a thin coating of transparent resin to keep it from deteriorating. The painting reacts to the climate, bending with the heat and stiffening in cold weather. The painting is added to the composition of the first photo, and more photos are taken. The positions of the ox skull and its reproductions are changed a number of times on the terrace, setting in motion a ‘game’ in which the images, randomly mixed and matched, as if they were playing cards, eventually create a story. The elements of the different arrangements, apart from the terrace itself, include outside objects that were placed on it, making it impossible to reproduce the compositions anywhere else. The work is not meant to be contained in any one image, but to be observed in the fullness of all its various iterations. *Questo dipinto è solo una parte dell'opera completa* (ITA) Questo allestimento contiene una forte carica identitaria dell’artista e nasce da un profondo desiderio di riscoprire sé stessi attraverso il passato e il presente. L’artista rispolvera un bucranio, suo ricordo di infanzia raccolto dalla natura e dipinto, e sente l’esigenza di rielaborarne il significato. Il bucranio viene collocato sul terrazzo condominiale della casa natale dell’artista e fotografato. Successivamente, una riproduzione ad olio alterata di questa foto viene inglobata in una fine lastra di resina trasparente che ne evita il deterioramento. Il dipinto reagisce al clima piegandosi al caldo e irrigidendosi al freddo. Il dipinto è stato aggiunto alla composizione della foto precedente e vengono scattate altre foto. Cambiando più volte le posizioni del bucranio e della sua riproduzione all’interno del terrazzo, sperimenta una sorta di ‘gioco’ tra le parti dell’opera, rendendo possibile la costruzione di una storia mescolando casualmente le immagini, come fossero carte da gioco. Le diverse collocazioni dell’opera includono, oltre al terrazzo stesso, anche elementi esterni in esso collocati, motivo per il quale sarebbe impossibile riprodurne la forma in un altro luogo. Questa opera è pensata perché non possa essere contenuta all’interno di una singola immagine, ma di poter essere invece osservata attraverso la molteplicità delle sue versioni.
