About the artist
Laura Carrascal was born in Argentina and has lived in Spain since 2008. She holds a Bachelor’s degree and is a lecturer in Fine Arts from the National University of La Plata, Argentina; a Master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from Nebrija University, Spain; and a Master’s degree in Teaching at Secondary School, Sixth Form, Vocational Training and Language Teaching from the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain.
She has been teaching since 1994 in schools in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Spain. She has also worked on curatorial projects, cultural management and artistic and cultural exchange between Argentina and Spain, and has been responsible for European educational and cultural programmes developed in collaboration with Germany, Italy and Portugal.
She is the author of publications such as Carrascal Escribano, L. ‘Videocommunication and Text’, in the Virtual Conference ‘Constructing the Gaze: Educational Strategies and Methodologies’. Conference ‘Museums in Education: From Action to Reflection’, 2012, Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum.
As a visual artist, she has built an extensive career across disciplines such as painting, sculpture, object art, installation, photography, video and site-specific work. She has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Argentina, Spain, England and the United States. Her work forms part of private and public collections, including those of the Emilio Pettoruti Provincial Museum of Fine Arts in La Plata, Argentina; and the Town Council of Alcalá del Júcar, Spain.
